Week Five

Core Value: Life-Change is Our Mission

The Passage

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

— Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)

Devotional

Jenae and I went through a drive-thru to grab coffee a few weeks back, and I asked the young lady at the window, “Hey, if you were standing at the gates of Heaven and Jesus asked you, ‘Why should I let you in?’ what would you say?”

She simply replied, “Ummm, because my friends are in there.”

Unfortunately, she didn’t yet know the truth of the Gospel—how beautiful it would have been for her to say, “Because of what Jesus did for me on the cross. His death, burial, and resurrection paid the way for me to be with Him forever.”

When she can answer that way, her life will be changed forever.

This is our passion. It’s to share Jesus with everyone on the Treasure Coast of Florida. Our goal should be to talk to every person we come in contact with about Jesus.

I was rushed, and she was trying to get drinks out, so we just invited her to church. I pray that she comes in one day.

Our heart is passionate for the lost—for people just like us who don’t yet know they can be adopted into this huge family and have a relationship with the Creator of the Universe.

That they can experience the peace that surpasses all understanding. That they can experience life-change.

This is our mission. We’ve been given a great truth:
There is a God who loves us, who wants us, and who gave up His Son for us so we might have eternal life with Him.

This message is for the whole world to hear.
And we cannot stop sharing it until every person on the Treasure Coast is connected to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.

The Practice

  • Pray that God would give you a Gospel-centered opportunity this week.
  • Pray that He would give you the chance to share your story of going from darkness to light with someone.
  • Pray that when the opportunity arises (it will if you pray for it), God gives you the courage to speak.
  • Pray that it would be the Holy Spirit speaking through you.
Important

Afterward, reflect—don’t condemn yourself if you feel like you “didn’t say it right.”

No—give God praise for giving you the courage you asked for.

You will grow with practice!
