SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE

Blueprint

Bible Reading: Ephesians 2: 11-22 (NIV)

Discussion Guide Questions

  1. Remember a time you felt like an outsider or replay a regretted night (as the pastor described). How does the truth that “the blood of Christ has brought you near” change the way you think about that memory? Name one shame you will stop bargaining with this week.

  2. Identify a “wall” you carry in your heart or life (politics, race, church hurt, pride, preferences, distrust). Which specific “brick” can you remove this week (for example: start a conversation, apologize, attend a service with someone different, stop posting on a divisive topic)?

  3. The sermon said the church is where people who wouldn’t sit together elsewhere eat at the same table. Name one person in your church or neighborhood who is different from you. What one concrete step (invite to coffee, share a meal, pray with them, serve together) will you take in the next 7 days to move toward them?

  4. Paul says reconciliation produces access to the Father. What is one practical way you can use that “access” this week — a specific time for prayer, a short family prayer before dinner, or asking the Spirit for courage to confess something to God and another person?

  5. Which of the Next Steps (join a LifeGroup, take KNOWN, commit to this church, start serving, surrender to Christ) is most pressing for you? What is one immediate action and a deadline you will give the group (e.g., “I will email the LifeGroup leader by Wednesday,” or “I will sign up to serve by Sunday”)?

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 12: 1 – 11 (NIV)

Discussion Guide Questions

  1. Who in your LifeGroup or church has noticed a strength in you that you’ve overlooked? Commit to ask two people this week: “What do you see me do well that blesses others?”

  2. Think about activities that bring you joy and where you see fruit. Name one activity that energizes you and one sign of fruit you’ve noticed. How can you do more of that activity in a way that serves others?

  3. If you receive a prophetic word or strong impression, what three steps will you take before sharing it with the group (for example: check the Bible, run it by a mature believer, ask whether it builds up the church)? Commit to those steps for the next time it happens.

  4. When someone in your life is suffering, what will you do next time to practice both faith and wisdom (for example: pray with them, anoint if appropriate, and encourage them to seek medical help)? Be specific about who you will call or how you will follow up.

  5. Memorize and speak this statement aloud this week whenever you walk out the door: “I have a gift to steward and a family to add value to.” Where and when will you intentionally say it this week to help move from spectator to contributor?

Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 12: 12 – 31 (NIV)

Discussion Guide Questions

  1. Name one gift you believe God has given you. This week, how will you use that gift to build up one specific person? (Be concrete: who, when, and what will you do?)
  2. Think of a recent time you felt envy of someone’s visible ministry or felt your contribution was “small.” What truth from this passage will you speak to your heart instead, and what one action will you choose this week to serve from that new perspective?
  3. Is there someone in your life (in this church or outside) with whom you need to make things right before the next time we take communion? If yes, what is one concrete step you will take in the next 48 hours (call, text, ask to meet, pray and write a note)?
  4. When one member suffers, Paul says all suffer with them (v.26). Who in our group or church is carrying a burden now? Choose one practical way you will “suffer with” them this week (deliver a meal, visit, pray at a set time, offer childcare) and commit to a day/time.
  5. What is one hidden weakness or fear that keeps you from being vulnerably known in LifeGroup? Name one small step you will take this week to lower that mask (share one struggle, ask for prayer, invite someone to coffee).
