Week Seven

Core Value: Every Generation Matters

The Passage

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord and his might, and the wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;

– Psalm 78:4–7 (ESV)

Devotional (Celebration + Commissioning)

You made it. 40 days of showing up, leaning in, and growing deeper.

Now—pass it on.

I would not be where I am today without people who invested in my life. Without mentors, coaches, and men and women who were intentional about my spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth.

This is what we need for the next generation.

We often say that every person needs three kinds of relationships at all times:

  1. A Mentor (pouring into you)
  2. A Peer (walking beside you)
  3. A Younger Person (you’re investing in)

This doesn’t mean you must be a TC3.Students small group leader or serve in TC3.Kids (unless you want to—because we could always use more volunteers!). But maybe it means connecting with a dad at Deep Dive whose teenage son isn’t listening to him—but will listen to his dad’s friend who’s sitting at the same table.

The Practice

This week, your practice is simple: Pray and ask the Lord to show you one person from the next generation that you can encourage and invest in—just like someone once did for you.

Next Steps:
You’ll receive an email from Pastor Tanner about your next steps at TC3. In the meantime:

We’re so proud of you.
This is just the beginning.
